Domain growth in a multivariable nonpotential system

We present a study of dynamical scaling and domain growth in a nonpotential system that models Rayleigh–B enard convection in a rotating cell. In d=1, dynamical scaling holds, but the nonpotential terms modify the characteristic growth law with a crossover from logarithmic to linear in time. In d=2 the nonpotential terms prevent coarsening for values of the angular rotation speed below the K uppers–Lortz instability. c © 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
